The first such restaurant was initially called the Eastside Diner in Muskogee and still serves the community right on the Jefferson Highway route.
June’s Restaurant, Checotah, OK
Locally owned, June’s serves All-American fare but is well known for its boneless chicken. The restaurant is a staple in the community, located in an old downtown building that dates back to 1901, and is right on the Jefferson Highway route.
Dutch Pantry, Chouteau, OK
For a delicious home cooked meal, you will want to stop at this restaurant and enjoy their all-you-can-eat Amish buffet. It’s a no-frill, laid-back buffet restaurant that’s perfect for big appetites and hungry travelers. They’ve been serving their Amish specialties here since 1986.
Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, Atoka, OK
This family-owned and operated Italian restaurant is well-known in the area. They serve homemade dishes, including pasta, pizza, salads, subs and more. Located in downtown Atoka, this restaurant is housed in a building that has seen travelers along the Jefferson Highway for over a hundred years.
Clanton’s Cafe, Vinita, OK
This historic café was first opened in 1927 by a local farmer named Grant Clanton. They are known for their chicken and dressing, chicken fried steak and breakfast food. The café was featured on the Dinners, Drive-Ins and Dives television show.
Main Street Barbecue, Durant, OK
Main Street Barbecue is Durant’s only local, family-owned and operated restaurant with deep roots in Bryan County. Located in one of Durant’s oldest buildings, visitors of Main Street Barbecue can experience dining along the Jefferson Highway the way it was over 100 years ago.
